Who Will Rescue Us?

    The world around us is spiraling down in a cesspool of sin.  God’s Word is being ignored by legions of the godless.  It is as if Sodom and Gomorrah are being rebuilt in our society.  And we have to live in this filth and resist it’s evil influences.  Will it ever get better?
    Yes, it will get better.  In the original Sodom and Gomorrah region there were no righteous people except Lot.  God fixed the problem while delivering Lot.  Peter tells us about God, “If he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly; and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the filthy lives of lawless men (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard) – if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue godly men from trials and to hold the unrighteous for the day of judgment, while continuing their punishment”  (II Peter 2:6-9).  God provided justice for Lot in the end.
  Do you ever feel tormented in your soul by the lawless deeds you see and hear:  Muslim beheadings, child pornography, kidnappings, rape, murder, homosexuality, cruelty, thuggery, thievery, bribery, drug abuse, corrupt politicans, drunkenness, lying, etc.  It’s enough to make any soul sickened.  When the ugliness seems to be overwhelming, remember how God saved Lot as he punished the evildoers.  God will rescue us from Sodom and Gomorrah.
