What We Believe
About the Bible
We believe the Bible is the infallible, inspired word of God and our standard by which we learn about Him and His Son, Jesus Christ. We believe it is the completed revelation from God and that it is our only source of authority for what we do and for which we learn of God's commands on how to be saved, how we are to live our lives, and warnings to which we must give our attention (Matthew 7:26; 2 Timothy 3:16-17).
About God
We believe that there is one God who has revealed Himself to us through the Bible. He is eternal, all-knowing, all-powerful, and ever present (Psalm 90:2; Isaiah 46:10; Revelation 19:6; Psalm 139:7-10). He is the Creator of the universe and mankind and the only Lawgiver and Judge (Genesis 1:1-31; James 4:12). God has revealed Himself as three distinct individuals: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (Colossians 1:2; John 20:28; Acts 5:3-4).
About Jesus
We believe that Jesus is the Son of God who came into the world to save sinners (1 Timothy 1:15; Luke 19:10). We believe He is the way, the truth, and the life and that salvation is found in no one else (John 14:6; Acts 4:12). He died on the cross for our sins, was buried and was raised on the third day. He will return one day to judge both the living and the dead, ushering mankind into eternity (John 5:28-29).
About Sin and Salvation
We sin when we break God's law by our actions but also when we fail to do good (1 John 3:4; James 4:17). Our sin has broken our fellowship with God by separating us from Him (Isaiah 59:2). With spiritual death waiting for us all, God's love for us has provided a solution to redeem us from our sins (Romans 6:23, Romans 3:23; Titus 2:11-14).
God offers us salvation from our sins by His grace and mercy through the blood of Christ (Ephesians 2:5-9; Revelation 1:5-6). Our salvation is not earned but it is conditional upon our obedience to God (Hebrews 5:9). Our obedience includes: faith (Hebrews 11:6; Mark 16:15-16), repentance (Acts 2:38), confession (Matthew 10:32-33), and being baptized by immersion for the forgiveness of our sins (Acts 2:38; 1 Peter 3:20-21). When we are immersed we share in Christ's death, burial and resurrection (Romans 6:1-11), our sins are washed away (Acts 22:16), we enter into Christ (Galatians 3:27) and are added to the Church (Acts 2:47). We are then to continue to be faithful throughout our life (Revelation 2:10).

About the Church
We believe the church is the pillar and support of the truth (1 Timothy 3:15). We read in Scripture that there is only one church that Jesus built which He obtained with His own blood (Matthew 16:18; Acts 20:28). It had its beginning in Acts chapter 2 when those who accepted and obeyed Peter's instructions were forgiven of their sins and added that day to the church (Acts 2:47). It should be noted that these men and women upon their obedience were added to the church by the Lord. We do not read that any "joined" the church of their choice or were voted into the church.
We are also given instructions in regards to how the church should be organized. With Jesus being the architect and builder of His church He is also the head (Ephesians 1:22-23). He has been given ultimate authority over the church. God does not direct the church to have earthly headquarters, or an earthly head such as a president, a Pope, etc. over all of the church but that each congregation is to be independent of the others. God does direct local congregations to be under the oversight of qualified men who are elders with deacons who serve under them (Acts 14:23). These men do not supersede the authority of Christ but they do have the responsibility of leading and caring for the local congregation according to God's word.
One will find that Christ's church will worship God as He has directed in both spirit and truth (John 4:24). To learn more about our worship please see the "Our Worship" page.
Throughout Scripture, one finds warnings of false teachers who teach different doctrines that are contrary to the truth. Christ's church will teach exactly what the Bible teaches and it will reject any teaching that does not accord with sound doctrine (Galatians 1:6-9).
