 A civilized society requires people, territory, and laws to govern both. A good society must also have judges to enforce those laws for the good of the people in the land. The nation of Israel was given territory to live in and laws to live by. Moses was appointed by God as their supreme Judge. We can learn from Moses about how our nation’s laws should be applied. For instance, the Mosaic Law said, “Do not pervert justice; do not show partiality to the poor or favoritism to the great, but judge your neighbor fairly” (Leviticus 19:15). And again, “Do not show partiality in judging; hear both small and great alike. Do not be afraid of any man, for judging belongs to God” (Deuteronomy 1:17). Moses was the nation’s highest judge, with lesser judges over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens. But they all had the same command: do not show partiality to either the rich or the poor, but judge each man alike. Today, in our nation of laws, we see judges and other appointed leaders showing partiality to minorities, illegal aliens, criminals, perverts, muslims, atheists, crack-pots, drug addicts, elitists, pseudo-intellectuals, abortionists, anarchists, socialists, humanists, pseudo-scientists, politicians, lawyers, judges, the rich because they're rich and the poor because they are poor. What we need is impartial justice applied by honest judges like Moses of old. King Solomon wrote, “It is not good to be partial to the wicked or to deprive the innocent of justice” (Proverbs 18:5).
