The youth group at 14th and Main Church of Christ is moving forward and peddling together growing in our love for Jesus and one another. There is benefit in forward movement. I have always loved to ride two-wheeled machines. However, if you would have watched me with my first bicycle you would have said, “He’ll never make it.” Talk about klutzy. I wondered if I would ever get to permanently take the training wheels off my bike. Before I got the hang of balancing the bike without the training wheels, my mother had used up several boxes of industrial size Band-Aids. One day it finally happened, after a measurable amount of work, coupled with a few scrapes and bruises my desire to ride a bike became a reality. I finally caught on to actually staying upright.
Think about it – don’t you remember that when you caught on to actually staying up on your bike and moving forward it was easier to balance yourself. Christians are like bicycles, in that if they are not moving forward, it is more difficult to stay upright. If we are not moving forward, we tend to have more scrapes and spend more time falling over than if we were making forward progress.
